Revival of a Legend.
I know that the news of Honda’s confromation of the new NSX has been floating around for a little while now but here at THEAUTOBIBLE we haven’t given our 2cents as of yet. It’s been milling around in my imagination for the past few days so i thought i’d share my thoughts with you on the matter.
Honda / Acura have been confirming then letting us down, then reconfirming the NSX revival since 2008. It’s been a tease to put it lightly! But at the recent Detroit motor show we got to see our first real glimpses of the NSX concept.

And boy is she a looker, this thing looks stunning from nearly every angle, there is no denying that. But there is some underlying niggles that i have. If there going to come out guns blazing and telling us its the new NSX then why am i struggling to see anything of the old one in there. Of-course times have moved on but if Honda are going to produce a modern day supercar to keep up with the competition, then why haven’t they just called it something completely new. This kind of seems like the lack of imagination and creativity that i see with a few other companies at the moment. Honda have said that its not going to have a snarling liter tri-turbo twin air gargantuan engine ( which is a dissapointment ) but they are going to be very focused on power to weight ration and making sure that this thing does keep to it’s heritage of being light and incredibly agile, all adding up to the beautiful handling and feel that the old NSX was loved for.

Then you have to wonder where this thing is going to fit it, are Honda going for the tail of the 458? Or are they chasing more along the lines of the 911 turbo. This hasnt been made entirly clear at the moment. But then we have to start looking at whether or not this thing is going to have a neat little hole that we dribble liquid fire into, or whether its going to have a cable to a plug socket. Either way there’s incredible potential and i know electric sounds dull and not the “petrol” heads idea of a good time, but BMW are already putting out with the I8. Is that what Honda are going after?
We’re not sure, but we sure as hell are just as excited as anybody else to see what is in store for us + we hope they stick pretty close to the lines that the concept car holds as she is a real gorgeous gal.

For a little extra info here is the press release from Honda a little while back:
Acura to Debut Three New Vehicles at the 2012 North American International Auto Show
Acura announced today that it will unveil three all-new vehicles at the 2012 North American International Auto Show including an all-new compact sports sedan, a redesigned RDX crossover sport utility vehicle, and a concept version of the next generation Acura NSX super car.
The Acura ILX Concept is a styling study of an all-new luxury compact sedan scheduled for launch in spring 2012. To be positioned at the gateway to the Acura lineup, the ILX will feature three powertrains including Acura’s first-ever gas-electric hybrid. Acura also will unveil a prototype of the 2013 RDX, the second generation of Acura’s five-passenger SUV. Finally, Acura will debut the NSX Concept, which represents the styling direction for the next generation of Acura’s super sports car.
“Acura has a steady cadence of exciting new models coming to market and it will all begin in Detroit,” said Jeff Conrad, vice president and general manager of Acura sales and service. “From the all-new Acura ILX at the gateway of the lineup to the pinnacle of performance with the Acura NSX Concept, Acura vehicles are being created for luxury customers who aspire to the highest levels of quality and value, with beautiful styling and the right balance of technology, performance and environmental responsibility.”
All three vehicles will be introduced at the North America International Auto Show on January 9, 2012. The press conference will be webcast live on www.acuranews.com.
